Magecraft Sounds is an indie-classical folk-fantasy project by Austin-based musical artist and event creator Kenzie Slottow (they/them). Slottow’s chamber music improv experiences have mixed orchestral, indie, and folk genres, inviting audiences of all ages to weave collaborative stories and co-create soundscapes, songs, choral poetry, and more. Their award-winning immersive theatrical productions combine stagework like musical theatre improv and ballet with interactive worlds for audiences to influence and explore.

Magecraft Sounds exists to grow and strengthen the power of community, imagination, and hope through the spellcraft of collaborative art: group singing, group improvisation, and interactive theatre experiences for all ages.

Slottow has recorded flute, alto flute, tin whistle, and piccolo on albums in many styles, including bluegrass-classical, contemporary folk, indie soul, and pastoral jazz. Their debut flute album (Hold It Up To The Sun, 2015) features their signature flute looping, beatboxing, nature-inspired minimalism, and a heavy Jethro Tull (Ian Anderson) influence. Slottow earned a Master of Music (UT-Austin 2012) and Bachelor of Music in Classical Flute Performance (University of Michigan 2010). Their primary teachers were Marianne Gedigian, Amy Porter, and Nancy Waring.
